The Future of Publishing in Web3
🪞Mirror.xyz: The Blockchain Writing Platform of the Future!
Mirror.xyz is a strange bird.
If you've used Google Docs or Word, Mirror will seem counterintuitive.
For instance, the first time using this platform, I tried to copy and paste a draft from another writing app onto its canvas, and it wouldn't let me. I tried pasting the text again and again.
And it wasn't happening—a few sentences would appear briefly, and then the text would disappear.
It was frustrating.
I couldn't figure out what was going on.
After playing around a bit, I discovered the problem: I had to unformat the text to paste it.
Anyway...
Because of little quirks like the above, I decided to write a series of how-tos and tips on how to use this strange bird's capabilities.
So, with that said...
Let's get the ball rolling.
What is Mirror.xyz?
Mirror.xyz is a Web3 publishing platform, a blockchain decentralized app (dApp). It's kinda like the Web3 version of Medium, a web2 publishing platform... But with more features, which we will get into in a moment.
It allows you to leverage cryptocurrency and blockchain technology to help you monetize your writing.
Here are a few of the features that it offers:
Entry creation: Once a user has created an account, they can start creating entries. Entries are like blog posts, where writers can publish their work and receive payments from readers.
Plugins: Mirror.xyz provides plugins that writers can use to enhance their entries. Plugins are like tools that help writers to add features like images, videos, and other media to their entries.
NFTs: One unique feature of Mirror.xyz is that it allows writers to turn their articles into non-fungible tokens (NFTs). NFTs are like digital collectibles that can be bought and sold like traditional assets but are unique and cannot be duplicated. This allows writers to earn money from their work even after it has been published.
Crowdfunding: Mirror.xyz also allows writers to seek crowdfunding for creative projects via NFTs. This means that writers can create NFTs that represent their work and sell them to raise money for their projects.
Simplicity: While other web publishing platforms can be complex and difficult to use, Mirror.xyz is simple and user-friendly (once you understand how to use it). This means that even young writers can use the platform to publish their work and earn cryptocurrency.
This is the introduction to Mirror.xyz, and part one of a series that will explore the unique features of this platform.
First things First
The first thing you will need to do is to get a crypto-wallet, like MetaMask, so you can connect to the platform. You will also need to buy some eth to pay for the initial gas fee (a nominal transaction fee)
Warning: when you create your wallet, you will be given a seed recovery phrase. Make sure you don't give out your seed phrases to anyone. Store them safely in several secure places. Your seed phrases are like your password to your digital assets. You don't want to lose them because if you do, your digital assets will be lost forever.
Once you get connected to Mirror.xyz, look around and explore. If you have questions, go to Web3 academy's writer's guild or DM me and leave your questions, and I'll answer them in this series.
In the meantime, we will expand upon the features that I've listed earlier in upcoming articles.
So, stay tuned as we learn about Mirror.xyz, the blockchain writing platform of the future.

📥 How to Find Your Discord Inbox
TIP OF THE WEEK
Did you know you have an inbox in your Discord? I didn’t either until a few days ago.
Below you will see an image in the upper right-hand corner of your window after opening a channel.
If you left-click on the icon where the arrow is pointing, a new window will open up that looks like the one below:
Unreads
The image above shows you three tabs – For You, Unreads, and Mentions. The window you have been taken to automatically opens your Unread messages. In this case, you will see that I have two announcements that have not been read yes. It also shows you the channel(s) and the messages.
But what do you do if you want to change the status of your message to “Read?” This part couldn’t be easier. Click on the single checkmark next to the message you want to change. Be careful. If you click on the double checkmark, you will mark all of them as “Read.”
Notification Settings
You can go to your Notification Settings by clicking on the little bell icon toward the top of your window.
Now, let’s look at mentions.
Mentions
In this window, we have many options we can choose from. Let’s run through them.
As in the case of your “Unreads,” you can see the channels you were mentioned in, as well as who mentioned you.
1. The second arrow in the image points to your filters.
2. For example, the filters are shown in the rectangular box. You make your selections by either checking or unchecking your choice.
3. But what if you want to see the entire thread that you were mentioned in? Discord has that covered for you. Just left-click on the word “Jump.”
For You
In addition, we have one more tab to talk about, which is the “For You” tab. Receive notifications on events, streams, and more. The only option is to delete them once they become overwhelming.
I’m sorry, mobile phone users. The Inbox features I’ve mentioned are currently only available on Desktop and Browser clients.
Until next time! So long 😊
