Food For Holiday Thought— 🦃 🤔 Crypto Celebrates Kwanza
In pursuit of writing a thoughtful newsletter for this Holiday season, we ventured down yet another rabbit hole.
This time it was the Winter Holiday rabbit hole of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza.
As usual, what did we find? But some food for thought, this time on Kwanza!
Did you know? Kwanza is not a religious holiday. It was founded in 1966 as a way to unite the community.
Celebrated on the exact dates every year, December 26th through January 1st.
There are seven days of celebration, a day to honor each of Kwanza’s seven principles.
Unity
Self-Determination
Collective Work and Responsibility
Cooperative Economics
Purpose
Creativity
Faith
Wow! It’s hard not to notice, those principles sound a lot like web3 and the foundations of a DAO.
So this got us thinking, Should web3 and crypto start celebrating Kwanza? It could be the yearly celebration we need to stay grateful for our digital identities. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas in Web3
‘Twas the night before Christmas 🎄 and all through Web3, not a Dev was building, not a transaction nor gas fee. ⛽
Ledger wallets were stuffed in the stockings with care in hopes that Saint Crypto soon would be there.
When there on my Mac notifications started to clatter, I sprang to my desk to see the Crypto Market chatter. 👩💻
Away to the metaverse, I logged-on in a flash, jamming in my password as I let the buttons mash. 🖥️
The trend on the DEX of the rising Crypto, gave hints of the Bulls rising from bear markets below. 🐻↗️🐂
When what to my mooning eyes should arise, but a hockey stick curve and an Ethereum Bitcoin surprise. 🏒🪙
With an anonymous writer only nine white pages thick, I knew at that moment it must be Satoshi and Vitalik. 📑✍🏽
More rapid than spammers, the coin values rise. I whistled and shouted as I called out their three-letter disguise.
“NOW SOLANA, NOW BINANCE, NOW CARDANO & BITCOIN!!!
ON AAVE, ON ARGO, ON MATIC, AND ETHER!”
To the top of the charts, to the top of them all, now dash away, dash away, dash away all!
The FOMOs they rush before Coin values fly, sweeping the OpenSea floor, before mooning to the sky. 🚀
So up to the top, the NFT values flew, with a sleigh full of tokens and Cryptocurrencies too!
And then in the twinkling, I heard on the roof, the clicking and signing of each type of proof.❄️
As I drew up my head and was turning around, down the chimney came shimmering without making a sound.
He was trustless and permissionless in its encrypted contract, it was Dynamic and upgradable to a holiday hat.
Lists full of utilities were in the roadmaps, and play-to-earn games were in the DApps. 🛣📱
The PFPs — how they twinkled! The artwork — how Merry! The communities were vibrant, and topped off like a cherry!
The white papers were polished and tied up with the bow, the builders were jacked!! LFG! 🎁💪
The value of crypto was rising, despite your belief. Web3 markets were shining and glowing bright like a wreath.
This Winter’s been rough, this bear had a belly, It made builders tough and used to volatility like jelly.🐾🍯
It was DOXed and transparent, a trustless ole elf. I chuckled when I saw it in spite of myself. 🫢
Gazing off at the moon, I went back to bed. I knew for the market, I had nothing to dread. 🌙😴
Permissionless code went straight to its work, And scammers got rugged as karma let out a smirk.
Sending out airdrops to each wallet it knows, And minting out POAPS, up the DEX Crypto rose. 🪂📈
WAGMI! I heard someone whistle. On the way to the moon, alt-coins shot off like a missile. 🔭🪙
I heard Crypto exclaim as it shot out of sight, “MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!”
